The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently published in the Federal Register 2020 the fees for commercial carriers required by law to participate in the United carrier registration ("UCR"). The UCR national registration system is now ready to process registrations.

Application of UCR registration requirements generally begins on January 1, but as the start of the 2020 registration period has been delayed by several months due to a delay in the approval of fees, the 'UCR requests states to delay application until June 1, 2020.

For the third consecutive year, companies subject to the UCR will see their costs reduced. The fee reductions for 2018-2020 are based on recommendations from the UCR board of directors to the FMCSA after several years of higher than expected collections.
